Introduction to Continuing Pharmacy Education and Credential Renewal Requirements for Pharmacy Technicians
This presentation will provide an overview of Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) for a pharmacy technician audience. Participants will learn goals of CPE, including Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)/National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and state credentialing requirements, and professional development opportunities. Types of CPE (live, recorded, pharmacist-specific, pharmacy technician-specific) will be addressed, and participants will learn how to choose a CPE activity. Participants will also learn how to interpret a Universal Activity Number (UAN). Finally, participants will learn how to set up an account on the Advocate Health CE Platform and how to utilize the Advocate Health Continuing Pharmacy Education SharePoint site as an adjunctive resource to access internal CPE activities.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to
- Interpret the information being communicated by a Universal Activity Number (UAN)
- Recall CPE requirements for maintaining PTCB certification, NHA certification, or state pharmacy technician credentials
- Select a CPE activity that is relevant to learner needs and appropriate to the learner’s credentials
- Employ the stated steps, using a provided job aid if needed, to set up an account on the Advocate Health CE platform or update learner profile
