This presentation will provide an overview on the updates to the complicated urinary tract infection guidelines from the IDSA. This presentation will cover the four-step approach to choosing appropriate empiric therapy as well as recommendations for definitive antibiotic regimens, duration of antibiotic treatment, as well as timing of intravenous to oral antibiotic transitions.

- Differentiate uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections using the updated guideline-defined criteria.
- Identify recommended empiric antimicrobial therapies for complicated urinary tract infections.
- Select appropriate definitive therapy including drug choice and duration using culture results.
- Apply the four-step approach to formulate evidence-based treatment plans for patients with complicated urinary tract infections.
