Michigan has issued a series of continuing education requirements for licensed professionals. Advocate Health has several offerings to help our licensed professionals meet these requirements.

Requirements are subject to change. Each professional is responsible for verifying and meeting the requirements for their specific licensure.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)

  • Additional continuing education or competency requirements may apply based on APRN specialty certification and scope of practice. APRNs must maintain national certification through their applicable certifying body.

Dentists

  • Continuing education must be obtained through providers approved by the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), or the Michigan Board of Dentistry and must meet Michigan Board of Dentistry requirements.

Nurses

  • Continuing education must be obtained through approved providers and meet Michigan Board of Nursing requirements

Pharmacists: 

  • Continuing education must be obtained through ACPE-approved providers and meet Michigan Board of Pharmacy requirements.

Pharmacy Technicians

  • Continuing education must be obtained through approved providers and meet Michigan Board of Pharmacy requirements.

Physicians:   

  • Continuing education must be obtained through approved providers and meet Michigan Board of Medicine requirements.

  • Continuing education must be relevant to the practice of psychology, obtained through approved providers, and meet Michigan Board of Psychology requirements
