Stroke Nursing Education: Emergency Department August
This course will provide nurses education on ways to provide care for acute stroke patients in line with stroke clinical practice guidelines and core measures. Stroke coordinators will present stroke nursing education for new hires in the emergency department. It will be offered the second Tuesday of each month.
Target Audience
This course is intended for RNs in specialty areas (Emergency Department).
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
Review pathophysiology, risk factors and presenting symptoms of stroke
Summarize available acute stroke treatment options
Identify required elements of documentation for care of a stroke patient
Identify difficult to score elements of NIHSS assessment
