Social Determinants of Health Journal Club 2023: Food Insecurity in a Low-Income, Predominantly African American Cohort Following the COVID-19 Pandemic

This journal club discusses the concept of social determinants of health and their impact to practice and the community. This journal club opportunity explores various aspects of Social Determinants of Health.  

Learners have the option to select the journal article of interest, read, and complete a post-quiz earning 80% or greater. This course is specific to the article topic "Food Insecurity in a Low-Income, Predominantly African American Cohort Following the COVID-19 Pandemic" and is available January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023.  Teaching methods include reading evidence-based journal articles and completing a post-quiz.

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify social determinants of health concepts that impact patient outcomes to improve nursing care and communication with patients.
  2. Identify the nursing role in addressing social determinants of health concerns with patients.
