After completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the factors that contribute to high mortality in sepsis
  2. Describe the diagnostic criteria of SIRS, sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock
  3. Explain the components of, and clinical reasoning behind Early Goal-Directed Therapy in sepsis treatment
  4. Implement Early Goal-Directed Therapy protocols for adult sepsis
