Join us for the premier regional scientific event focused on the unique challenges and advancements in diagnosing and treating breast cancer in women under 45. Proudly sponsored by the Sandra Levine Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program, this symposium brings together leading experts and healthcare professionals for a day of cutting-edge insights and collaborative learning.

With young women comprising approximately 9% of the breast cancer population—and a growing number seeking specialized care at Atrium Health—this event is designed to address the evolving landscape of treatment and care for this demographic.

This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, as well as others including nurse navigators, nurse assistants and others in medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology and genetics, as well as researchers involved in breast cancer and breast cancer patients.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, social workers.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify common and uncommon symptoms of breast cancer in young patients.
  2. Differentiate appropriate imaging modalities for diagnosing breast cancer in young women.
  3. Evaluate surgical treatment options for young patients with breast cancer, considering patient-specific factors.
  4. Explain the role of radiation oncology in the multidisciplinary treatment of young breast cancer patients.
  5. Assess the indications and effectiveness of systemic therapy options in the management of breast cancer in young women.
