Resolve Through Sharing (RTS) Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death 2024
Infant deaths occur infrequently and staff report a lack of confidence with the care of families experiencing perinatal death. In this course, participants will actively participate in the course to gain knowledge, skill and personal awareness on how to provide individualized care when experiencing an infant loss.
**** Participants are required to complete three online modules (included in registration fee) prior to attending the classroom portion of the course.

Target Audience
This course is intended for nursing and other interested healthcare professionals who may practice in the following settings: antepartum, labor and delivery, mother/baby, pediatric/neonatal intensive care, perinatal hospice, emergency room, surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, genetics, and family practice clinics.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Analyze the role of interdisciplinary teams in caring for bereaved parents and families
- Analyze three theoretical frameworks that promote understanding of perinatal death
- Assess “being in relationship”
- Incorporate how to offer options to families
- Integrate two examples of how caregivers can use ritual when a baby dies
- Recommend two spiritual tasks
- Distinguish three examples of honoring relationship between parent and child
- Apply strategies to incorporate infant loss standards for bereavement care into clinical practice
- Incorporate the role of keepsakes for a family’s grief
- Formulate elements of a follow-up phone call
- Recommend three self-care strategies for caregivers
