Obesity Medicine: The Mechanics of Wellness and A Behavioral Health Approach to Treatment


This course aims to provide education to physicians on taking a closer look at Obesity Medicine applying a wellness and behavioral health approach.  Equip the physician on how to approach the patient when it is time for a mental health referral when concerns related to obesity are clear.

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Distinguish the theory of the 3 Cog Wheels of Wellness
  2. Apply tips to assess for behavioral health concerns related to obesity
  3. Review mental health disorders related to obesity
  4. Recognize when to refer for mental health treatment
  5. Apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Weight Management at patient visit
