New Clinician Onboarding Evaluation and Management (E/M) Inpatient Only

This course offers clinicians an in-depth understanding of coding fundamentals essential for accurate documentation and compliance.

 

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, physician assistants, and all other clinicians regardless of specialty or sub-specialty.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe key components of E/M coding, including patient type, service type, and levels of service.
  2. Differentiate between code selection based on medical decision making versus time and identify appropriate E/M codes. ​
  3. Analyze documentation to determine the correct level of E/M service based on MDM elements: number and complexity of problems, data reviewed, and risk. ​
  4. Define Hospital Inpatient and Observation Care Services Visits and Critical Care.
