This presentation will provide a review of hormone replacement therapies for patients undergoing gender-affirming care. It will discuss the risks associated with hormone replacement therapy and evaluate the pharmacokinetic changes that occur throughout the transition process.

  1. Recall common terminology associated with transgender and gender diverse populations
  2. Design a guideline recommended hormone therapy plan for a MtF transgender patient
  3. Design a guideline recommended hormone therapy plan for a FtM transgender patient
  4. Identify risks associated with hormone therapy in transgender patients
  5. Assess how pharmacokinetic changes impact medical treatment for transgender and gender diverse patients
