Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the current best practices and treatment options for GERD, achalasia, and paraesophageal hernias.
  2. Differentiate between surgical approaches such as Nissen fundoplication, partial fundoplication, Linx implantation, TIF/cTIF, and Stretta.
  3. Demonstrate proper technique for laparoscopic and robotic procedures including fundoplication, Heller myotomy, pyloroplasty, and subtotal gastrectomy.
  4. Utilize EndoFLIP and flexible endoscopy in pre-, intra-, and postoperative management of foregut disorders.
  5. Evaluate surgical indications and treatment planning for complex cases, including revisional surgeries and patients with obesity or short esophagus.
  6. Incorporate robotic technology and artificial intelligence advancements into foregut surgical practice.
  7. Apply hands-on technical skills in a lab setting to enhance operative confidence and procedural efficiency.
  8. Interpret intraoperative decision-making strategies through observation of live and pre-recorded surgical cases.
