Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Recognize the purpose of Inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
- Describe how CDI can impact outcomes and why clear and accurate documentation is important
- Distinguish the differences between CDI and Coding responsibilities
- Understand the purpose of a CDI query and how CDI queries can impact SOI, ROM, LOS and financial impact of records
- Describe the physician advisor’s role in the compliant query process
