Foundations of Inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement for Physician Advisors 2022

This activity will provide education on inpatient clinical documentation improvement concepts for physician advisors.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Recognize the purpose of Inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) 
  2. Describe how CDI can impact outcomes and why clear and accurate documentation is important 
  3. Distinguish the differences between CDI and Coding responsibilities 
  4. Understand the purpose of a CDI query and how CDI queries can impact SOI, ROM, LOS and financial impact of records 
  5. Describe the physician advisor’s role in the compliant query process
