Eating Disorders 101: The Latest Information You Need to Know

This presentation covers the latest information from the eating disorder field, included research and trends. We will review the DSM-5 criteria for eating disorders and assess a number of contributing factors in the development of eating disorders.  This presentation will also cover limitations in research and treatment as well as how to improve treatment and early intervention.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other allied health professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify the signs and symptoms of clinical eating disorders.
  2. Understand limitations in eating disorder research and the use of BMI as a screening tool.
  3. Recognize contributing factors to eating disorder development.
