This presentation will provide an overview of the 2023 GOLD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) guidelines. A focus on the pharmacist role in stable COPD management, treatment of COPD exacerbations, and COPD prevention will also be discussed.

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to

  • Recognize the new definition and diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Evaluate the management of a stable COPD patient
  • Develop an appropriate pharmacologic treatment plan for a patient experiencing a COPD exacerbation
  • Analyze the pharmacist role in the prevention and management of patients with COPD
