Clinical Issues in Marriage and Family Therapy Series: Ethically Navigating Divorce Dynamics in Child and Family Therapy
This workshop will address practical considerations for therapists to ethically and wisely navigate systemic therapy with children and adolescents whose parents are divorced or divorcing.

Target Audience
This course is intended for mental health practitioners, including physicians, marriage and family therapists, social workers, professional counselors, and other interested health care professionals.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Identify the common ethical challenges and missteps by therapists in high conflict divorce processes
- Describe how to structure the intake process for child and family therapy when parents are divorced or divorcing
- Recommend best practices for avoiding ethical breaches while serving as child or family therapist for a child during and after parents’ divorce.
