Clinical Issues in Couple and Family Therapy Series: Resilience in an Isolated World
Due to unfortunate circumstances, Resilience in an Isolated World has been rescheduled to Friday, October 3, 2025 (original date was Friday, September 12, 2025).
There are many myths about resilience that predominate our culture. Resilience is often portrayed as an individual trait or characteristic that helps a person overcome stress. Many people think it something “you are born with” or “you either have it or you don’t” thus making it unchangeable. Another common view of resilience is stoicism, logical, and done alone. These myths (among others) paint an inaccurate picture of resilience. The research overwhelmingly shows that resilience is multifaceted and can be developed with practice.
This workshop will discuss the myths of resilience and how they limit our ability for growth. It will provide a conceptual definition of resilience and steps you can take to improve it over time. Specifically, this workshop will focus on the aspects of resilience (connect and optimism) that are the most challenged with isolation and divisiveness.
The knowledge and skills gained in this workshop are designed to enhance our connection with others in personal and professional relationships. By strengthening existing relationships, we are able to manage stress more effectively, thus increasing our resilience. This workshop will enhance your ability for resilience and provide you tools to offer others.
This conference is being held virtually.
