Central Chicagoland DEI Education Series 2024 - Breaking the Bias Barrier: Innovating for Inclusive Workspaces

Through the Central Chicagoland PSA Anti-Racism Anti-Hate Collaborative, we will launch a three-part series that will be virtual interactive sessions to review microaggressions, trauma-informed care, and how our teammates and clinicians can utilize de-escalation tools in an active hostile environment. We hope that through providing this education we can contribute useful tools for creating safe and inclusive spaces for our teammates and the patients we serve.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, nurses, social workers, and health care professionals.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  • Utilize a safe space for open dialogue about racism, bias, discrimination, and hate in the health care setting. 
  • Discuss recent incidents of racism in the workplace and impact on emotions, feelings, and work environment 
  • Examine what microaggressions are and discuss strategies to interrupt microaggressions in the health care setting with cultural humility 
  • Incorporate a short-term and long-term anti-racism strategies
