Care of Cardiac Surgical Patient on the Telemetry Unit: September 12, 2024
The Care of Cardiac Surgical Patient on the Telemetry Unit is organized by the leadership team of the Telemetry unit, the Nursing Professional Development team, and cardiovascular surgical team. The goal of this training is to promote excellence in nursing through evidence-based practice presentation and simulation. The nurses defined within the telemetry unit should be able to care for cardiac surgical patients which includes discontinuation of chest tube and external pacing, if necessary. This training will provide evidence-based practices. Learners will need to pass a post test with a score of 80% or greater.
Target Audience
This course is intended for registered nurses (7 Stone or CRU) with the telemetry unit.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Describe key elements of treatment protocols for cardiac surgical patients on the Telemetry Unit and apply to applicable treatment plans in clinical practice
- Apply evidence-based methods for removing a chest tube in a simulated environment
- Demonstrate how to accurately utilize an external pacemaker
