BLS Foundations 2025: February 17

This education provides hands on simulation training utilizing Basic Life Support techniques learned through the RQI BLS training. Please note this course does not satisfy the requirements for BLS and RQI BLS is still required.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Nurses at Condell, who have successfully completed and are up to date with the RQI BLS program and other interested healthcare professionals; NA's, PCC's.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate recognition of an unresponsive, pulseless patient requiring BLS.
  2. Describe how to activate emergency resources in a cardiac arrest event, including the Medical Alert Code Team
  3. Perform prompt high quality BLS including prioritizing early chest compressions, early defibrillation/AED use and use of bag valve mask for ventilation.
  4. Demonstrate appropriate Zoll defibrillator pad application during an emergency event.
  5. Demonstrate appropriate documentation of the first five minutes of BLS utilizing the EPIC Code Narrator.
  6. Evaluate resuscitative efforts during a cardiac arrest through continuous assessment of CPR quality and delivering real-time feedback to the team.
  7. Evaluate the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance during an emergency event, including roles and closed loop communication.
