This presentation will review various novel antifungal treatments with both new mechanisms of action and additions to current drug classes with different pharmacokinetic and adverse effect profiles.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Compare the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of novel antifungal treatments to those currently available
  2. Evaluate the clinical trial data supporting the efficacy and safety profiles of novel antifungal treatments
  3. Determine each novel antifungal treatment’s potential place in therapy based on current evidence
  4. Design an evidence-based treatment regimen for a patient diagnosed with an azole- and echinocandin-resistant Candida auris bloodstream infection
