Aurora BayCare Current Concepts in Sports Medicine Symposium: Managing the Unstable Shoulder 2026
Management of shoulder instability has evolved over the years in regard to surgical considerations and techniques, as well as rehabilitative management. This one-day course will cover a variety of topics related to treatment approaches for shoulder instability including surgical considerations, rehabilitation principles in both operative and non-operative patients, and how to appropriately progress these athletes back to their sport.
This conference is being held in person and virtually.
NOTE: Please note this activity will be presented 7:45am – 4:30pm CST / 8:45am - 5:30pm EST
Target Audience
This course is intended for physicians primarily in orthopedics, physical therapists and assistants, occupational therapists and assistants, and athletic trainers that assist in managing the unstable shoulder.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Identify and differentiate between common classifications of shoulder instability (AMBRI vs. TUBS) and describe their implications for clinical evaluation and treatment planning.
- Apply current evidence-based practices in nonoperative and operative management of shoulder instability, including sport-specific rehabilitation strategies.
- Interpret imaging findings and integrate them into interdisciplinary decision-making for shoulder stabilization procedures and return-to-sport progression.
- Design and implement plyometric and kinetic chain-based rehabilitation programs tailored to athletes in both open and closed kinetic chain sports.
