AIMMC 12 Lead EKG Program 2024

This course will provide telemetry and ICU trained nurses, APCs, a basic overview of how to read and analyze 12 lead EKGs as well as how to diagnose areas of myocardial infarction.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Telemetry trained RNs, ICU RNs, APCs.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Differentiate the basic electrophysiologic concepts of the EKG components
  2. Distinguish the steps in axis calculations
  3. Evaluate a 12 lead EKG in a systematic manner
  4. Differentiate the sequence of activation and EKG characteristics of the RBBB, LBBB, and LAFB
  5. Compare the coronary artery distribution in relation to the electrical system of the heart
  6. Analyze how to diagnose areas of myocardial infarction
