ACH Pediatric ED PEM Provider Trauma Education Program 04/13/2026
This program is an ongoing trauma education/simulation program for pediatric EM providers to remain up-to-date on pediatric trauma care and to maintain trauma management knowledge. Three simulation sessions offered each year. Each capital PEM Provider must sign up for at least one session annually. Each simulation session will include two simulations (three hours) on two trauma topics. There are a total of eight trauma topics that should be covered over four years. The same two topics should be offered for each simulation session during a calendar year. The two topics will change every year so that eight topics can be covered during a four – year cycle.
This conference is being held in person in the Simulation Center (Oak Lawn)

Target Audience
This course is intended for physicians and other health professionals.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Compare the multidisciplinary programs that are offered though Advocate Children’s Hospital
- Apply the information gained from attending this simulation to their practice
- Develop skills in diagnosing and treating rare pediatric trauma cases
- Understand effective teamwork and communication utilizing AAH Team member Behaviors and Safety Tools and Tactics
- Review 8 rare trauma topics.

Dr. Dougherty and Dr. Shakhsheer lead a procedure workshop with emergent cricothyrotomy (Rusch Quick trach, Melker kit, centurion surgical cric kit) and placement of an extremity tourniquet. Participants will have time to practice emergent cric and tourniquet placement
