AAH Nursing Grand Rounds Recordings: Reducing Violent Behaviors with Trauma Informed Care
Trauma informed care (TIC) is designed to create a culture that recognizes the impact of trauma in peoples’ lives and supports care based on respect, appropriate responses, and referral for support care. This presentation will describe an improvement project at Advocate Christ Medical Center aimed at reducing type II violence for patients who have experienced previous trauma by adding Trauma Outreach Workers as part of the care team.

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Identify the basic TIC principles & how the principles can help prevent type II violence.
- Describe the Trauma Recovery Center and their innovative project to utilize Trauma Outreach Workers on the inpatient units to support people with pre-existing conditions.
- Discuss one idea that you could use in your personal practice
