The presentation is a review of using motivational interviewing (MI) and how to put it in practice. This may benefit diabetes educators when counseling patients for diabetes and nutrition education.

Target Audience

This course is intended for certified diabetes care and education specialists (CDCESs), registered nurses (RNs), registered dietitians (RDs).

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

   1. All learners will demonstrate knowledge of motivational interviewing strategies by passing a post-test with a score of 80% or better accuracy.
