Objectives 

At the end of this course, team members will:

  • Recognize clinical signs of elevated afterload on VA ECMO.
  • Be able to recognize and differentiate different diagnosis of high systemic vascular resistance in an ECMO patient.
  • Intervene effectively to reduce elevated systemic vascular resistance.
  • Demonstrate effective closed-loop communication and role delineation.
