Pharmacy learners are transitioning from didactic to practical applications settings. Pharmacy preceptors can play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy learners as they develop and apply critical thinking skills.  This presentation will help pharmacy preceptors guide pharmacy learners to refine critical thinking skills in clinical settings.

This course is intended for Advocate Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to

  • Define critical thinking, describe how this applies to pharmacy and how these skills are utilized.
  • Identify examples of activities used to encourage critical thinking.
  • Differentiate Socratic questioning from other methods of questioning 
  • Recognize practical applications of precepting in daily practice while supporting development of critical thinking skills.
