Red Flag in the Med Bag: Tackling Duplicates on a Home Medication List
This presentation will explore various types of duplications on home medication lists. It will cover how pharmacy technicians can identify these possible errors, ways to clarify duplications, and when to escalate these to a pharmacist. Attendees will be able to work through these scenarios and complete a better medication history list.
This course fulfills one hour of patient safety education for pharmacy technician certification.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to
- Identify common types of duplicate medication therapy found on home medication lists.
- Recall strategies to determine if a duplicate medication exists on a home medication list.
- Recognize duplicate therapy scenarios that are out of scope for a pharmacy technician to address and may require clinical input by a pharmacist
