Labor Support- Continuing Evidence Based Skill Development

Join us for this exciting full day labor support conference that will cover: the Roots of Obstetrics and its influence on today's care, physiologic labor, creating pelvic space for fetal rotation and descent, the posterior fetal lie and second stage techniques to protect the pelvic floor.  This class is designed for professionals who provide labor support; labor nurses, OB's, midwives and doulas. Come with your co-workers and together create culture change that improves birth outcomes!

This conference is being held virtually and in-person at Advocate Sherman Hospital.

Target Audience

This course is intended for phyicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  • Describe the historical roots of obstetrics and their influence on modern birth management.
  • Identify labor support techniques that promote the physiologic labor process.
  • Utilize pelvic dynamics to optimize space for fetal descent and rotation during labor and birth.
  • Explore the biomechanics of the posterior fetal lie and strategies to support fetal descent and rotation.
  • Discuss second-stage labor techniques that promote long-term pelvic floor health. ​
