Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Compare the proposed mechanisms of action for SGLT2 inhibitors when used in heart failure and chronic kidney disease versus the defined mechanism when treating type II diabetes mellitus
  2. Analyze the efficacy and safety profiles of SGLT2 inhibitors when used in chronic kidney disease, heart failure and type II diabetes mellitus
  3. Design a guideline directed medication treatment regimen for patients with chronic kidney disease, independent of a type II diabetes mellitus diagnosis
  4. Create a guideline directed medication treatment regimen for patients with uncontrolled heart failure, independent of a type II diabetes mellitus diagnosis
