Forward15th Annual Pulmonary Hypertension Symposium | Progress in PH: Recent Developments in the Diagnosis and Management of Pulmonary Hypertension
This symposium was designed to provide an update on topics in the field of pulmonary hypertension, right heart failure, and respiratory failure. The conference will educate internal medicine, cardiovascular, and pulmonology disease practitioners on the latest insights into accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of pulmonary hypertension and subsequent heart failure.
This conference is being held virtually and in-person.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Integrate diagnostic evaluation, newly available medical therapies, and strategies for implementation of early treatment for PAH patients.
- Distinguish between the various hemodynamic profiles based on etiology of pulmonary hypertension
- Identify approach to accurate diagnosis of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension
- Evaluate screening methods and opportunities for early referrals to PH specialists in patients with pulmonary embolism.
- Discuss innovative treatment techniques in CTEPH
- Examine newly approved pharmacologic agents for treatment of PAH as well as novel delivery devices.
- Apply case-based learning in the evaluation and management of patients with combined pre and post capillary pulmonary hypertension.
- Interpret results of sotatercept trials and apply new evidence to real-world patient case scenarios.
- Recognize drug and toxin-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension and discuss treatment approach.
- Contrast the differences in diagnosis and treatment of patients with interstitial lung disease with/without resultant pulmonary hypertension.
- Identify when to consider pulmonary venous occlusive disease in pulmonary hypertension differential.
- Summarize established knowledge in PAH-PVOD and discuss application to patient care
- Analyze the ongoing research in novel as well as established treatment pathways.
- Integrate cardiology and pulmonology interpretation of patient presentation into a multidisciplinary approach for diagnosis and management of pulmonary hypertension.
