Antidotes Are No Joke! Policy and Operational Pearls on Antidotes Recorded Session

This CE will be geared towards pharmacy technicians. This presentation will cover information on the AAH Antidote Medication Administration Guideline that is pertinent and relevant to pharmacy technicians in order to ensure a timely and efficient response to medical emergencies.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Examine the management of malignant hyperthermia, bleeding due to anticoagulation, acetaminophen overdose, opioid overdose, and calcium channel/beta blocker overdose​
  2. Identify relevant clinical and operational pearls for dantrolene, 4-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (KCentra or 4F-PCC), acetylcysteine, naloxone, glucagon, calcium gluconate and vitamin K ​
  3. Recall malignant hyperthermia cart contents and strategic locations ​
  4. Outline the preparation of dantrolene, acetylcysteine, and 4F-PCC
