Stroke Nursing Education: ICU and Telemetry January
This course will provide nurses education on ways to provide care for acute stroke patients in line with stroke clinical practice guidelines and core measures. Advocate stroke coordinators present stroke nursing education for new hires in ICU and Telemetry. It will be offered the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Target Audience
This course is intended for RNs in specialty areas (Adult ICU and Telemetry)
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Review pathophysiology, risk factors and presenting symptoms of stroke
- Summarize available acute stroke treatment options
- Identify required elements of documentation for care of a stroke patient
- Identify difficult to score elements of NIHSS assessment
