Compliance & HIPAA 2023
This module addresses the knowledge gap for clinicians in multiple areas related to regulatory compliance as identified by the Advocate Aurora health Compliance & Integrity department and federal agencies, including the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and their contractors. The intent is to increase knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements and to apply that knowledge in daily practice to improve compliance with those requirements.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Recognize Advocate Aurora’s Code of Conduct
- Identify your role and responsibilities in helping ensure that you fulfill your legal and ethical obligations, including actions to take in the event of a compliance concern or question
- Distinguish the healthcare laws that relate to your practice
- Identify policies and other compliance resources that are available to you
- Describe how to protect Advocate Aurora Health’s information systems and patient privacy in accordance with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) Privacy and Security Rules
