Objectives:
- Define heavy menstrual bleeding and understand common causes in the adolescent population.
- Review iron deficiency anemia diagnosis and treatment in young adults
- Understand the most common bleeding disorder associated with menorrhagia in the adolescent population.
- Discuss the treatment modalities available for use in the adolescent with heavy menstrual bleeding.
- Determine when referral to a Pediatric Hematologist and/or Adolescent Gynecologist is recommended.
