Objectives:

  1. Define heavy menstrual bleeding and understand common causes in the adolescent population.
  2. Review iron deficiency anemia diagnosis and treatment in young adults
  3. Understand the most common bleeding disorder associated with menorrhagia in the adolescent population.
  4. Discuss the treatment modalities available for use in the adolescent with heavy menstrual bleeding.
  5. Determine when referral to a Pediatric Hematologist and/or Adolescent Gynecologist is recommended.
