Description: This presentation will review current practices for discharging patients to outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), potential difficulties in coordinating intravenous antimicrobial administration on discharge, and methods to mitigate delays in discharge for patients anticipated to complete therapy with OPAT.

  • Identify antimicrobials that may be difficult to obtain for OPAT
  • Propose an intervention to expedite discharge for a patient anticipated to complete therapy with OPAT
