Objectives: ​​

  • Recall the pathophysiology of acetaminophen (APAP) overdose
  • Outline the mechanism of action, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic properties of n-acetylcysteine (NAC) and fomepizole
  • Evaluate current primary literature on differing NAC dosing strategies
  • Develop a medication treatment plan for a patient with an APAP overdose when given a clinical scenario
