Session Objectives:
- Detail the evidence base that shows how excess added sugar intake contributes to various health outcomes.
- Define and identify the characteristics of various sugar substitutes.
- Interpret and integrate new and existing scientific literature and guidelines on the safety and efficacy of sugar substitutes in decision-making.
- Identify how to teach patients to implement sugar substitutes into a healthy eating pattern as a way of reducing added sugar intake.
