Description: Since the release of the 2017 American College of Physicians Guidelines for the management of osteoporosis, new advancements in pharmacotherapy and emerging research have prompted a review of current treatment approaches. Updated recommendations from various organizations now advocate for initiating appropriate pharmacotherapy based on patient specific factors and risk stratification. These developments also highlight many opportunities for pharmacists to play a key role in optimizing osteoporosis pharmacotherapy.
