Program Overview: 
The Older Adults Timely Topics series is an interprofessional and interdisciplinary CE activity designed to explore across the Advocate Health footprint a variety of timely topics impacting all members of the healthcare team related to the care of older or aging adults. We are using a lens of diversity-equity-inclusion, importance of and sensitivity to framing in communication, aspects to support Advocate Health as a destination for assessment or care, acceleration of learning or knowledge retention, advocacy for team and dynamic learning leading to discussion on change in practice, with the intent to promote safety and to meet the quadruple aim. We encourage sessions related to review evidence on technology adoption. We are sensitive to the needs or opportunities related to care giver education.


Overall Objectives:

  • Apply current practice guidelines in the field of geriatric medicine 
  • Adopt a public health perspective in the care of older adults
  • Consider aspects of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) to monitor for biases that can affect clinical work
  • Consider safety, value added and the quadruple aim in making changes in their clinical work
  • Use a team approach to learning and to treatment plans for elderly patients
  • Utilize the Timely Topics Learning Channel when needed

This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and other healthcare professionals.

Advocate Aurora Health designates this live activity for a maximum 1.00 hours of CPE credit for pharmacists.  CPE credit can be claimed on the AAH CE platform within 60 days of activity completion and information will be provided to CPE Monitor. Participants should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Advocate Aurora Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 1.00 clinical continuing education credits.
