Objectives: ​​ 

  1. Differentiate between monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM), and multiple myeloma (MM based) on current diagnostic criteria
  2. Describe National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) guidelines for the risk of stratification, monitoring and management of patients with SMM
  3. Clinically assess the benefits and drawbacks of early therapeutic intervention in SMM
  4. Review recent clinical trial data to support evidence-based decision making in the management of SMM
