Overview: This presentation will focus on defining diversity and looking beyond diversity to inclusion and health equity. After this presentation, the learner will be able to define diversity, health equity and inclusion as well as have tools to implement into their daily practice, advancing better patient outcomes and fostering better patient relationships. When there is inclusion, diversity occurs naturally, allowing us to discuss the health disparities that affect our patients as well as fostering innovative ways to bridge these gaps. Examples of these innovations include different guidelines for health screens, standardization of practice to avoid bias and addressing social determinants of health that contribute to health inequities.
