Overview
The 2025 ANA Nursing Code of Ethics was updated with the collective insights of over 6,000 nurses from across the globe. The nursing “Code” serves as a timeless foundation (since 1950), expressing the values, virtues, ideals, and obligations that shape and guide the profession. This session will be led by a clinical ethicist, a transformational nurse leader, and a regulatory expert. Who will highlight a contemporary issue and discuss how the code provides nurses with ethical principles to guide decision-making.
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
- Discuss the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and highlight the 2025 updates.
- Identify three contemporary issues: moral distress, global health & workplace violence.
- Relate how the code can be used to guide professional and personal decision-making
- Describe 1-2 takeaways for your practice
