Overview

Opioid addiction and death remain a public health emergency. Advocate Health received grant funding to create a taskforce for alternative pain management in North Carolina hospitals and emergency departments. This session will feature advanced practice registered nurses who will discuss nurse-driven multi-modal pain treatments, opioid exposure reduction, and naloxone access.

Objectives: Participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the prevalence and impact of pain in emergency and acute care settings.

2. Describe evidence-based opioid-sparing, multimodal strategies to effectively manage pain.

3. Recognize opioid dependence and discuss how to deliver trauma informed care.

4. Describe 1-2 takeaways for your practice
