Overview
Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in neonatal prematurity (≤ 1500 grams) remains a critical concern, with morbidity and mortality rates ranging from 20-40%. Identifying transport-related risk factors for IVH can guide clinical practices to enhance neuroprotection during neonatal transport to higher-level care NICUs. This presentation highlights findings from a multi-site retrospective study, evaluating how transport team interventions, maternal/fetal pre-existing conditions, and environmental factors impact IVH development. Participants will gain actionable insights into mitigating these risks.
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1. Describe the background of issues that arise when high risk neonates must be transported.
2. Discuss the study methodology, findings, and implications for improving transport.
3. Describe 1-2 takeaways for your practice
