Overview
Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) is a major public health issue in the United States. These youth seek out healthcare during exploitation and are not identified by healthcare personnel. This session will feature how a validated CSEC screening tool for youth age 11 – 17 was implemented in a Pediatric Emergency Room.
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1. Define commercial exploitation of children (CSEC) and it’s impact on the healthcare
system in the United States.
2. Identify associated characteristics that make youth potentially at-risk for CSEC.
3. Discuss validated CSEC tool, implementation, and implications.
4. Identify 1-2 specific implications to apply to their practice.
