Overview: This class will cover the basics of high reliability theory and its application to healthcare. The effect of high reliability culture of achievement of zero preventable harm is discussed. The content will be tailored for the leadership roles of the learners. Mindset, psychological safety, high reliability principles, culture, and high reliability leadership skills are covered. Pre-material to be completed on Workday prior to attending.

 Overall Objectives:

  1. Describe the AH mission and vision.
  2. Analyze high reliability theory’s relationship to safety, zero harm, business, and healthcare delivery.
  3. Apply the principles of high reliability to selected leadership scenarios.
  4. Practice high reliability leadership methods through simulation of selected scenarios. 
  5. Employ high reliability leadership skills to everyday scenarios.

Target Audience:  
This activity is designed for nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
