Objectives:
At the end of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Identify the three routine prophylactic interventions given to newborns in the United States.
- Describe the history, mechanism, and necessity of each intervention.
- Summarize the diseases these interventions prevent (VKDB, Hepatitis B, and Ophthalmia Neonatorum).
- Compare the significant benefits and minor risks associated with each procedure.
- Discuss the current cultural and medical discourse surrounding these interventions.
