Objectives:

At the end of this session, the learner will be able to: 

  1. Describe the need for intentional career exploration in pediatric residency in the context of pediatric workforce concerns, variable career exposure, and ACGME individualized curriculum requirements.​
  2. Explain how a structured, chief-led PGY-1 Career Exploration rotation can support career awareness, mentorship, professional identity formation, and individualized curriculum planning.​
  3. Identify key curricular components that promote meaningful career development,including reflection, clinical shadowing, faculty engagement, networking, and professional development.​
  4. Interpret early outcomes from this curriculum and discuss how structured career exploration may support informed, individualized career decision-making.
